NDG Luchiano 01 : In this photo, Ray "Aka" Nanook of the North, is punching some drywall screws that were sticking out - so we can begin our tape and plaster first pass. Notice the ceiling? It's pine latte pieces that give the room a nice rustic warm feel. It was already up and ready before we arrived.
NDG Luchiano 02 : Here's a better look. The drywall was already installed, a few sections of pine need to be worked on - but all in all - a very nice job. Now, we'll begin the tape and plaster.
NDG Luchiano 03 : Tape and first pass always looks a little rough at first.
NDG Luchiano 04 : Here's another shot from a different angle. Keeping your work area clean is crucial. The floors are covered, brooms are ready, and everything is organized and ready to continue. I like to work this way, and our friends want to return to a nice dust free home.
NDG Luchiano 05 : And yet another pic. Both, to show off the workmanship involved in this project, and the way we work.
NDG Luchiano 06 : We were not asked to do the hallway, but when you have great people like our friend's - you don't need to be asked. Here - my camera hog buddy Ray "Nanook" applies some compound to some rough spots in the phase 1 hallway. After all - We already have our tools out - why not :)
NDG Luchiano 07 : Only a face a mother can love! Ray "Nanook" is adding some caulking around all the windows, because we discovered a leak entering from the upper bathroom. The leak was effecting Phase 2 - so we figured we'd take care of that problem in advance before it became a bigger issue. Lucky we did - all of the windows around the home needed caulking. If not - thousands of dollars in future repairs would have been required.
NDG Luchiano 08 : This photo is continued from above. Unfortunately, while we were inspecting and adding caulking, we also discovered the awning is in really bad shape and falling down. Brick pointing is also something that will soon need to be looked at.
NDG Luchiano 09 : Here's a closer shot of the awning. You'll notice the tar and silicone "fix" is separating from the brick. Also, just by touching the awning with your hand, you can manually move it. That's a sure sign of it coming lose and getting weaker. We removed the ice and snow, to give it a bit of a break - but it must be looked at.
NDG Luchiano 10 : In this photo - Ray is adding silicone to the leaky window on the second floor. We noticed almost no silicone what so ever, and what was there, was very brittle and falling off almost by itself. It's chilly outside, but it had to be done. Plus Nanook makes funny faces when he's freezing :P
NDG Luchiano 11 : Here's a quick look at plaster and dust-free sanding.
NDG Luchiano 12 : Here's another look at plaster and dust-free sanding. The tarp is there because of the little scraping we must do - and for the just in case factor, but as you can see - no dust cloud, no dust on the floor :) This will save you weeks of dusting after we are gone.
