BOUGIE PROJECTS
Project : Rebuilding A Bathroom
A friend of mine runs a elderly home. The bathroom was a real disaster, we had to totally gut it and rebuild it. The photo's in this section, are not that great because I forgot my regular cam and took these with a cell cam. I also did not include the before photo's because I'm sure you can already imagine the bad condition already - so it's not necessary. Here's what we did :)

Step By Step : Each Photo Explained.

01 Before
At this point - the bathroom is already starting to take shape. The demolition is completed. The debris is removed. The plywood and waterproof drywall is installed and taped. Our plaster first pass has also been completed.

02 Before
On this angle, you can see our green waterproof drywall. I myself prefer to use cement board in bathrooms, it's stronger, rot proof, but more expensive. Once again, our tape and plaster first pass has already been done. The holes for the fixtures are also precut before we installed the drywall.

03 Before
We figured, if we're going to do the tiles, we should do the floor as well. The floor is now at it's cement stage, cleaned up and ready to tile. Say good bye to the cracked old existing tile that was there before :)

04 Wall Primed
The main wall is now primed and ready to paint. At this angle, you can see the cuts have been done and the sink pipes are ready for the brand new pedestal sink . We installed the new bath tub immediately after demolition.

05 Wall Primed
Here's another look from a different angle.

06 Tiling Starts
Well, all the prep work is done. It's time to start adding the tiles. Before we can even start, we ask our friend what type of design he wants - angled tiles or basic - he goes with basic. We started with the window wall, because this bathroom is kinda small - it'll be our focal point.

07 Tiles
Here's another look from a different angle.

08 Tiles
We continue adding the tiles while constantly taking measurements to make sure everything lines up perfectly. The lines are straight, all is good :)

09 Tiles

10 Floor Tiles
We know, we can't walk on the floors while the tile glue sets. So at this point, we worked our way out of the bathroom while doing the tiles on the floor. The glue you use for the walls is not the same as the glue you use on cement.

11 Floor Tiles
Here's a look at the progress from another angle.

12 Bathroom Tiles
This photo pretty much gives you an idea of what the finished project will look like. The white tiles really make this bathroom look brighter and bigger :)

13 Tile Grout
Everything is dry. We added the tile grout as you can see in this close up. Just a note - there are dozens of grout colors you can choose from. Our friend went with a medium gray. Also, you should know - try to use only sand less grout for your wall tiles, because the spacing on wall tiles in much less than the tiles you will add to the floor.

15 Bathroom
We installed the pedestal sink, added a really nice looking simple mirror. The project is just about complete - what an incredible difference.

17 Bathroom
Now, we installed the bathroom toilet. I think my friend got lucky and bought his bathroom gear at the right time. Everything was on sale :P

18 Bathroom
The taps and faucets have also been installed. To make certain no leaks develop in time, we also added silicone in back of each tap and fixture. It will be a pain in the butt for the plumber, but, we are doing this to prevent a plumber from ever showing up :)

19 Bathroom
Now that everything's installed and working perfectly, we add the grout to the tiles on the floor. Once again, when the grout has been added, you can't use your bathroom for another day. If need be - use a piece of plywood and create a bridge that will take you from point A to point Pee - lol - Get it?

20 Bathroom
The photo is bad - but I wanted to show you my corners. They are sharp, lined up, and the bathroom silicone is applied perfectly :)

Here's a final shot of the finished project.
